Statement
This is a meditation on Space and its influence on the forming of Identity.
I engage with the notion of space as emphasis to both, our surrounding physiography as well as an arena of institutionalization.
I’m interested in the histories and geopolitics that arise through the interaction of bodies in and with space, and how in turn it informs notions of identity (and statehood in a broader sense).
The household is one such arena. And furniture often acts as agent or an in-animate go-between. As a result the chair has become a constant motif in my work

Using recycled material in art is crucial. I try to promote awareness of the potential that’s in the everyday things around us. I look at it as a sustainable source of art supply and material. I collage working mainly with paper magazines, newspaper, discarded books and objects. I don’t like developing my ideas too much, I like to think through working, so I’d say my process entails a lot of questioning and spontaneity.
Resulting in an openness to interpretation by the viewer…

My work is both an investigation and conversation about the interplay between personal identity and the broader context of space, emphasizing the significance of self-reflection, through a combination of collage, potriture and mapping. It functions as a sort of suggestion that understanding ones own place in the world requires both looking inward and a consideration of external influences, such as the complex relationships one leads with environment.
