I am a multidisciplinary young artist who works primarily with sculpture, installation, painting and performance. My artistic practice explores the traditional African beliefs and the practices of the people of South Africa to discover how these beliefs influence their lives through systems and worldview. As a person who possesses a spiritual gift, I draw most of my inspiration from my culture’s deeper connections and my paternal grandparents, who used to carry out the traditional African rites in our home. These influences helped me to understand how to perceive the ritual as well as its significant artistic execution. I frequently use materials like impepho smoke on canvas, oil paints on canvas, clay, and a range of everyday objects.
