Tumelo Moliko is a 21 year old Fine Art student who was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. In her works she utilizes video, sound and mixed media to create visual histories and communicate untold stories/ideas. She is often inspired by her own personal life stories, and for Tumelo, she ultimately sees Fine Art as an extension of her voice.

Her most recent work includes video pieces that deal mainly with her feelings and experiences post lockdown. In this particular video piece, Untitled, Tumelo explores new forms of image and video making. Her work was made from a series of photocopy images that were manipulated to create a moving image. She physically manipulated these images through drawing, writing, folding and painting. In this work she makes use of visual poetry to comment on feelings of anxiety and violation. This piece introduces new possibilities of mark making and experimentation in video art.

Moving forward, Tumelo aims to continue exploring this new form of image making to create visually experimental and poetic pieces. She wants to continue using her videos as an extension of her personal experience to help her ultimately establish a unique style of video making and storytelling.
