Traces of Play
Disappearance lll is from a visual album titled “Traces of Play”. Traces of Play is a collection of images that were photographed while taking walks on different days around my neighborhood during level three and level four of the national lockdown.
These images which I turn into cyanotypes are a way of speaking to the real life situation when it comes to the reality of play, More especially when it comes to physical play with social distancing in place. The cyanotypes are a representation of how the future of play and indigenous games might look like.
The Cyanotypes present memories disappearing and are documentation of the traces of what is left behind from the games. The medium of cyanotype allows the images to become a trace, it gives the images a fading effect of a memory that is disappearing.
