Who are we outside of what we think we know? Will we ever truly know the true essence of what we are? I consider myself a spiritual being of this earth, made up of water, air, fire, space, and earth brought onto the physical realm to fulfil a specific purpose. Everything beyond that, such as my race, gender, sexuality and age, are not what makes me but are simply features that add to my identity. Looking in the mirror, we may think that what we see is all that is of us, when it is essentially a reflection of reflections of reflections. You see what you want to see, what others see in you, and what you may view as your flaws. My work is a look within which aims to disrupt the distortion and construction that comes with how we perceive ourselves as well as how others perceive us, to find the truth outside of what we see.
