Memory, Identity, Emotion, Community and the practices of Care are the themes that foreground my artistic practice. I am particularly interested in the act of re-narrating, re-constructing and re-presenting the past while still nurturing the present and in anticipation of the future. Time is an element that I explore through proposing alternative realities through my work as a means of creating and staging environments or happenings that acknowledge the complexities of the quotidian. My work occupies the space of intersection between the ideas of the sophisticated and the unsophisticated experiences of the-everyday practices, technologies, rituals, and occurrences. It is a proposal of glitching in order to re-narrate. Through my work I interrogate, and generously share my experience of the everyday -with the ideas of intersectionality being one of the driving forces- in relation to the realities and the quotidian experiences of the individuals that I share my life and love with, individuals from the communities that house me. The concepts of care as a radical force and the use of the erotic are phenomena’s that I reference and utilize to creatively articulate myself. I explore subversion and abstraction as liberating technologies that foster transformation and alternative possibilities.
