This work exists in two parts – an audio piece (Recording 1) and a performative video (Yours truly). The former narrates moments of tension as well as a personal relationship with the domestic space. It begins to highlight the crippling effect of the everyday routine. The latter uses both static image and sound to contrast each other and continues to narrate an unaddressed letter. Self-narration is used as a way to document this process of repetition – a kind of repetition that informs a constant state of becoming. The intent for the entirety of this work is to look at how patriarchy functions through the mundane and how a particular kind of womanhood and identity is created within the domestic space.
