My art is centred around a process of introspection and reflection. In my work I am considering my positionality, as a mixed race cisgendered South African man, in a world which feels irreparably fragmented. Through different media such as paint and textile I am exploring my relationship with global histories and looking for some direction regarding the future.

The repetitiveness in my art making offers me a space to settle into myself and be present with thoughts and feelings not so easily accessible while going about the labour of the day to day. This meditative process is the nexus of my artistic production which, attempts to repair the gashes of dissociation and apathy, accumulated over the first two decades of my life, piece by piece.

This for me is a practice which preserves a link with a sense of spirituality, and a belief in the connectedness of all things, which has been withering over the years. A method of salvaging what can be cherished from the ashes of the past, in the hope of building the possibility for something beautiful in the uncertainty of tomorrow.
